Colton's Summer So far (23 months)

We have been trying to have lots of fun this summer, but sometimes it is hard with a little 2 month old. So Colton and I get our outside fix when little man is sleeping. Colton has been such a big boy. He stopped using a binky back in May, and He moved out of his crib on June 9th (22 months old), and has been doing AWESOME sleeping in his "big boy bed" with his special Elmo Pillow and bed set. He can count to 13 perfectly, and counts everything he can find. His favorite is counting numbers on license plates.
He says so many words I cannot even keep track anymore! My favorites though are "Shoom" (spoon), "Shay Shoo" (thank you) and "ruh roo" (love you). His new thing now is asking for things, and answering his questions in the affirmative. For example he will say "Bar? Bar? ok. bar." and apparently he has decided he is getting a bar. He does it with people he wants to see as well. "Grandpa? Grandpa? Ok. Grandpa." it is hilarious.
Colton is an awesome big brother and adores Jax-o. He gives good snuggles and kisses and always says "Ruh roo Jax".
He isn't a big tantrum thrower, but he is super demanding, and becomes a royal pill when he decides he isn't getting enough attention. He likes to throw toys at mom's head, and pinch her skin with his fingernails to receive such attention. Church is still kind of a nightmare but he is FINALLY going to nursery without mom sitting in there with him! We have had 3 successful weeks and it has been so awesome!! (only took 5 months...jeeze lousie.)
He is the most musical kid I have ever met. He is always singing, he loves to play the piano, and clapping to the beat of songs. And man he is a dancing FIEND. He knows most words to pretty much all the songs on the radio, and will sing along, in tune. it is really amazing.
He is also great at stacking towers, and identifying colors. His favorite is purple (thanks Barney), and blue. He knows yellow, green, and red too.
He is a big challenge for me. He has so much energy, but still isn't quite old enough to do a whole lot. I try to keep him as busy as possible, but sometimes I just cannot keep up with him and his demands. He brings me so much joy though. He is incredibly sweet, and as considerate as an almost 2 year old can be. I love my little oldest so much. I'm grateful to be Colton's mama!

Jax's 2 months

How the heck has it been 2 months!!
10.8 lbs (27%), 22.5 inches (31%) and head circumference 15.4 in (25%)
First Smile on May 26th (5 weeks old)
Stopped using the nursing shield at 7 weeks old
Moved into size 1 diapers right after 1 month (though he could probably still wear newborn)
Out of newborn clothes right at 2 months.
This boy is so perceptive. He just stares you right into your soul. He is so alert, just like Colton was, and seems a lot older than he is. He can lift his head so well, and is just about to start giggling.
Colton is obsessed with him, and gets jealous when anyone else gives him attention, because Jax is "my baby". Jax is so incredibly patient with Colton, and he never gets upset when receiving very strong snuggles and kisses. I just know he is so excited to get up and move with him.
He is still crying a couple hours a day, but sleeping awesome at night. He has slept through the night the past 2! And before that only waking once in a 10 hour span to eat. SO yeah. I'll call that a win.
He is looking just like his big brother too, even with the dimples, though they are less pronounced since his face is less chubby than Colton's was
He is moving his head all around and is now aware when I enter (and leave) the room. He is also starting to bat at the toys hanging from his play mat.
I'm so excited to see what this next month will bring for him!

Jax's Blessing

Funny story about Jax's blessing.
Way back at the end of March I contacted the secretary for our ward to set up Jax's blessing. The family that would be attending would all be flying in, and needed to schedule flights, so we had to secure the day. I asked if June 5th would work, and he said that would be great! I even double checked to see if I needed to let anyone else know, and he said nope, he got it down.
Fast forward to May 20th, like 2 weeks before scheduled blessing. Everyone had purchased their tickets and I was starting to plan the luncheon for all the guests attending. I kept having the nagging feeling to make sure the blessing was scheduled. So I texted the secretary again, and his response?
"Oh Stake Conference is June 5th, so we will have to push the blessing back to the 12th".
My response?
"NOOO EVERYONE HAS BOUGHT THEIR PLANE TICKETS TO COME OUT FOR THE 5TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And that's the story of why we did Jax's blessing at our house on June 5th 2016
Jared's dad came out to rep the Thomas side. And my whole family (sans Lance, miss you Elder Bunch!) came out that Friday night. We all hiked Ensign Peak Saturday morning, and almost everyone went to a movie that afternoon. I cooked basically all weekend, which is my favorite thing to do :)
Sunday we had the Parkers, Rogers, Davis', and of course all our visiting family over to the house for the blessing in the morning, and had a big spread for brunch right after.
Jared gave Jax a beautiful blessing, the most notable part being when he blessed Jax to have love and respect for women, which really touched my heart.
We are so grateful for this little man to be a part of our family, and he has so many people who love him who traveled far to support him!
