Merry First Christmas Colton Boy!

Colton did pretty darn good on the way to and from North Carolina for Christmas. Two flights each way, plus long layovers made for 10+ hour travel days and he was a trooper. He also prompted many smiles with his santa hat.
He is about 80% proficient at rolling each way now (woo hoo!) though he still occasionally gets stuck on his belly. He loves to stick his tongue out at anyone who will play with him.
The coolest thing though?! This kiddo is sitting up! He doesn't get there on his own, and occasionally he tips over, but it is now his preferred playing position. So crazy.
Colton was awesome in North Carolina. He loved all the snuggles and attention he got from all his loving aunts and uncles, and especially Grammy and Pa. We had a very low key Christmas as a family, but he got a few presents from extended family and liked chewing on the wrapping paper :)
Colton's aunt Kaytlin also took some awesome family pictures for us, and she captured this absolute gem.
This picture is just so Colton. He has the most darling smile and dimples, but he really is a serious and inquisitive boy. He loved sitting in those leaves and making them crunch in his hands!
This is the best first Christmas photo I could get. I actually kind of love it haha. He was very tired.

With meeting Santa for the first time, and opening his first Christmas presents, Colton has had a fun week. Though his sleeping has been so so off. After almost 2 weeks of waking up every. single. hour. to be rocked, cuddled, and fed, mom said enough is enough, and started to enforce a semi-strict sleeping schedule. Eat, play for about 90 minutes, sleep 30-40 minutes, repeat. This ends up at about 4 naps a day, and we are trying to get Colton down for the night between 7 and 7:30. Though our upcoming trip to North Carolina is going to throw everyone off their schedule, we are hoping to stick to it a bit, since after only 2 days of the schedule, Colton was down to only waking up 3 times a night instead of 9. Here's to hoping!

Christmas Spirit

Though since our house has been on the market, we haven't put up any Christmas decorations, we have been getting in the Christmas spirit this past week. We went to a beautiful nativity with Emmie and Chase. There was a real live camel! We followed the "wise men" through to three stations where we saw Mary and baby Jesus, and heard the angels sing (that was Colton's favorite part). Afterward we went for burgers at Freddy's.
Then on Saturday the 13th, we went to Jared's work team Christmas party. We enjoyed great company and had a fun white elephant exchange, then we had our ward Christmas party. They put on a great progressive program, where we moved from room to room and we heard some great stories and musical numbers. Then we had a delicious dinner followed by pictures with Santa. Santa did not phase Colton one bit, in fact, he was determined to stuff as much of Santa's beard into his mouth as he could. This made Santa a bit uneasy, but it was just SO Colton all I could do was giggle.
Every year for Christmas when I was little, my Grandma Trimble sent our family the "12 days of Christmas", presents for each night to open up until Christmas. It was such a fun tradition, and my mom has kept it up with us! Since Christmas is a weird time for us this year, with selling the house, and going to North Carolina for 10 days, and moving, we were very low key, but her 12 days of Christmas made our season! I'm so sad, I could've sworn I took a picture of all the presents I laid out, it looked so pretty! But I can't find it anywhere! Anyway, Colton enjoyed ripping off the wrapping paper for his presents, and Grandma got him the absolute cutest hat in the world. Jared and I went through and opened the presents so fast, it was so fun! Thanks so much mom, we love you!

What a little HAM! Colton hit 4 months on Sunday and he is changing so so much. Last week he had his first real sickness after we got back from Colorado. He was stuffy and feverish and coughing and it was so sad! Luckily he kicked it in 2 days and is back to his particular self. This picture was when he was so sick. He got a hot bath and his binky at the same time just to help him feel better!
His fave thing these past few weeks? The exersaucer. He has figured out how to play with the toys and how to bounce, he loves that thing. He is even "walking" in it to spin the chair around and get to other toys.
He still pretty much only rolls from his back to his right side onto his tummy, then he gets stuck. Good thing there we have super daddy around to save the day.
He had his 4 months checkup this week. He is 23 inches long (less than the 0 percentile), 14.3 lbs (22nd percentile), and I don't remember his head circumference, only that it is in the 1st percentile. So really, our little man is still really little!
Little or not though, this kiddo is so smart, We have reached what I like to call the manipulation stage. He is testing us for sure, to see what he can get away with, and how much he has to whine in order to get our attention, and even though he is the cutest kid in the world, I'm starting to have to lay down some ground rules, but really we mostly play all day long
And the only thing he likes more than playing with mom? the tv....
